Windows 7 – The Peer Name Resolution Protocol
After many ours of googling I finally found the solution to the problem where the “The Peer Name Resolution Protocol” service fails to start. The error displayed in the Windows event viewer is:
The Peer Name Resolution Protocol cloud did not start because the creation of the default identity failed with error code
: 0x80630801
The solution is to delete a corrupt file:
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst
Categories: Windows 7
My system has been rebooting shortly after startup. I cannot startup in Safe Mode. I can only startup in Normal Mode.
I’m getting the “C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking” error and a BSOD.
I just now tried your fix by renaming the idstore.sst file to sdstore.sst.bak
I’ll wait and see if this fixes it.
Thanks for th info!
Sorry, I quoted the path of the file instead of error.
The error I’m getting is the same as yours: “The Peer Name Resolution Protocol cloud did not start because the creation of the default identity failed with error code
: 0×80630801″
